Your DISCOM and metering
Most of the state is served by MSEDCL (Mahavitaran), while Mumbai and its suburbs are split between Adani Electricity, Tata Power and BEST. Under MERC rules, residential rooftop systems generally use net metering, so your bi-directional meter nets exported units against imports. Note that as of 2026 Maharashtra has been revising the treatment of surplus export, with a regulated buy-back rate for injected units set around Rs 2.8 per unit and time-of-day tariffs in play, so confirm whether your connection is on net metering or net billing before you size the system. It is disbursed by DBT to your account after commissioning, and collateral-free loans near 7 percent are available. MAHAURJA acts as the state nodal agency; as of 2026 there is no confirmed additional Maharashtra cash top-up over the central subsidy, so check the latest position with your DISCOM.
