This policy explains what information ProSolarCalc ("we", "us") collects when you use prosolarcalc.com, how it is used, and the third-party services — analytics, advertising and affiliate links — that operate on the site. We've tried to write it plainly rather than in legalese.

The short version

Our calculators run in your browser. We don't make you create an account, and we don't require your email to use them.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used.
We show ads through Google AdSense and Adsterra, which use cookies and similar technologies.
Some outbound links are affiliate links, which may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't pass your details to solar installers.

Information we collect

Information you don't have to give us

You can use the calculators without registering or identifying yourself. The values you enter to run a calculation (such as your bill amount or system size) are processed in your browser to produce a result; we don't require you to submit them to us, and we don't use them to identify you.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our analytics and advertising providers automatically collect technical information when you visit, which may include your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, time on site, the site you came from, and approximate location (derived from IP). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our third-party providers use them to measure traffic, remember preferences, and serve and measure advertising. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of certain advertising cookies as described below. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Third-party services we use

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web-analytics service provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages visited, session duration and general location. This data helps us see, for example, which calculators and guides are most useful. Google AdSense

We display advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies (including, where applicable, advertising cookies) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Adsterra

We also display advertising through Adsterra, an advertising network. Adsterra and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to deliver and measure ads, and may collect technical and usage data such as your IP address, device information and interactions with ads. Affiliate marketing links

Some links on this site — including some on our Free Tools and guide pages — are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to sign up for or buy a product or service, we may earn a small commission, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate partners may set their own cookies to attribute a referral to us. We only include links we consider relevant, and an affiliate relationship does not change the price you pay. Our editorial content and calculator results are not influenced by these arrangements — where we have a view, we aim to give you honest information regardless of any commission.

We don't display ads or affiliate links inside the calculation logic itself in a way that changes your result, and advertisers cannot pay to alter the numbers a calculator produces.

Your choices and rights
